Buddy Class

When Room 5 visited Whanganui Museum they learnt how to make a small taonga puoro called a porotiti. They decided to share their learning with us. In pairs we used a template to cut the shape out of thick cardboard, then we drilled some small holes for the string, and finally we selected and drew some maori art designs on them. We really enjoyed making these with our buddy class.

BIG BOOKS

We love our Big Books!

We wrote postcards to Harry McFarr about his clunker car and told him what we liked about his story.
We became detective’s like Suzee Sing and used our spyglasses to explain who we thought was causing problems at the museum.

Today we had a visit from Manu from Te Manawa as part of our Maoritanga topic. He gave us further information about maraes and what roles people have on them. He also showed us lots of traditional Maori instruments and tools. It was fascinating to listen to them!! At the end he taught us a waiata.
